Controller
Midas Hospitality is a leading hotel development, construction, management, and investment firm with properties across the United States. Our fast-growing company is looking for a Controller in the Central Office that will be responsible for direct supervision of all accounting and financial functions for a portfolio of Midas managed hotels. Primary responsibilities for the Controller include the accounting monthly closing, reporting to the owners, annual preparation of the detailed budget with continuous forecast revisions, cash flow management for each property and all treasury administration. The Controller will also lead a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to enhancing workflows to make the close and reporting processes more efficient, timely and accurate.
What You’ll Do:
- Supervise accounting staff
- Coordinate the implementation of corporate policies and procedures such as invoice processing, cash management and calculation of fees with goal of automating manual processes
- Implement, document, and maintain effective internal controls and processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Daily cash flow management and monthly forecast and analysis for properties
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure effective forecasting of future periods to properly manage cash and debt needs for all Midas managed properties
- Proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective
- Responsible for supervision and analytical review of the accounting and preparation of properties' financial statements and related footnotes to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
- Responsible for the monthly preparation and reporting of the properties' financial statements and the reporting to owners and key stakeholders
- Review and approval of journal entries required to reflect the monthly activity and work papers supporting the month end balances
- Assist the Director of Finance in the implementation, documentation, and maintenance of fixed asset records with proper depreciation recognition
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax projections and payments and annual tax return preparation
- Coordination with multiple departments to create annual budgets for Midas managed properties
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA designation and/or Master's Degree preferred
- Strong analytical and communication skills required.
- 7+ years of experience in accounting and finance preferably with investment management company
- 4+ years of experience managing accountants and month end close process
- Strong experience in both the private and public accounting sectors is preferred
